This is how the Singaporeans usually sit in a coffeeshop, and this one sure has it in him…

My Favourite Plaid Shirt
March 25th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink
A non-Oskar post because my little cheeky monkey of a godson decided to give me a break to run his errands (e.g.: change a tee I bought him to a bigger size)
ANYWAYS…
I’ve never been a fan of plaids because it always seemed to evoke a ‘scottish vibe’ and those I’ve seen on the streets clad in them seemed to make me want to steer clear of ever having that in my wardrobe; so I don’t know what went through my head when I bought a plaid shirt from Topshop’s A/W collection some 2 years ago. Perhaps I thought it would go really well with my silver Onitsuka Tiger sneaks then. Or perhaps I had spare change? Cost me $89 though. Nevertheless, this shirt has been hanging in the closet, unworn for some time and it was only till today that I realized why.
It is in a UK6 which I could proudly wear and even have some room for a buffet then.
But these days, I’ve ballooned to a UK8/10 which means that I probably must have tried it on before only to see my fats protruding, threatening to burst the small buttons keeping it together (after all, who wants to be seen in a shirt that burst out open because of their waistline) before hanging it back on the rack. :X
So today I decided to ‘invent’ a new way of wearing the shirt by wearing a tank beneath so that I wouldn’t have to deal with trying to contain a UK10 bod within a UK6 shirt :)
It still felt comfy BTW, though I wondered why I hadn’t thought of that earlier. :|
Attempting my first spree
March 24th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink
I’ve been too lazy to get dressed just to get my butt down to Sephora to top up my make-up stash lately, so entered the next best thing: doing my shopping online.
My trusty Benefit products are starting to run dry (after using them for 6-8 months, well done!), and while the past me would have been able to hit the USD 115 mark to be entitled for Free International Shipping, the present me has learnt to only get what I need…which adds up to a mere below $100 :(
So I am hereby announcing that I would like to hold a spree (since goggling ‘Benefit Spree Singapore’ only returned me either dodgy websites or sprees that were dated from 2008 - 2009, erps) to buy Benefit Cosmetic Products!
If you are interested, leave me a comment and let me know the following:
- Product name
- Colour (if applicable)
- Quantity
- Price
Important Things to note:
* Exchange rate used for this spree : 1.00 USD = 1.35 SGD
* Handling fee of $0.80 per order (regardless of items)
* Postage to your delivery address: $1.00 for 3 items or less. $1.50 for 4 to 5 items. $2.00 for 6 and more items
* Payment has to be made within 24 hours of order to facilitate the spree process and will be capped at USD 115 for total order (updates will be provided)
* Payment will be refunded 100% only if item(s) ordered is out of stock
* Items will take about 3-4 weeks to arrive. Updates will be provided.
DEADLINE FOR THIS SPREE (or I will proceed to order my stash): 27 Mar 2011, 9pm Singapore Time
In case you’re wondering what I’m aiming to get my hands on, here are the items:

covers dark circles extremely well

covers any redness on the skin and scar marks well

brightens the face without overdoing it
For a girl that does a lot of clothes shopping online, I’m really excited that I could potentially do my makeup shopping online too! Woooyay.
Under the table

Observing my godson as he entertains himself on a daily basis is amusing.
Apart from the usual routine of playing with his toys, taking him out to touch the plants, greet the dogs and playing peek-a-boo with him, he’s found a new ‘playground’ to entertain himself today…
Pardon the low quality photos. Didn’t have a proper camera with me so the one on the iphone was the next best thing. Plus, didn’t wanna risk losing capturing these moments if I ran up to grab the cam.
The night visitor

Due to a diaper change in the middle of the night (literally 12 plus), Oskar woke up and wormed his way for some play time in our room.
Does he remind you of ‘Maggie’ in The Simpsons? :)
From the weekend

the tv room - can you believe it, a dedicated room just for tv watching :)

lovely balcony area that overlooks God's creation - nature

we had good tasting wines through the night. really loved the selection.
Fri - went to ex-boss’s housewarming which WOWed everyone completely with their beautiful home deco. I wonder when I’d be able to land myself in a stylish pad like that some day!
[Disclaimer: home owners have requested minimal publicity on their 'cloud 9' home which feels like paradise really; so the above is just a tease...]
Sat - took Helen & little Oskar out to Dempsey for some Aussie fare/coffee followed by shopping in town where we got Oskar 2 new toys!
Sun - didn’t managed to capture any pictures as both Luke & I babysat Oskar fulltime in the morning. Happy to say that we were super godparents because the little one didn’t struggle when it came to nap time and woke up one very happy boy. Luke has an amazing way of making babies laugh and tiring them out quickly, we discovered. :)))
Friday Freedom

Those following my Facebook status would have known what a busy week I’ve had just baby sitting my godson, Oskar, whose in town and putting up at our place for a month. My typical day of revolving my godson would be waking up, brushing my teeth, going downstairs to play with my godson and entertain him till it was his afternoon nap time before I could retreat back to my room to catch up on my google reads, emails before taking a shower and then deciding my plan for the day.
And that was just being a godma / babysitter to some beautiful infants, not a mother. Phew! Although I’ve also had my mini crash course through the week of diaper changing, feeding, entertaining, carrying and more.
So today, my title reads ‘Friday Freedom’ because I had some time to myself, that I could even attempt to curl my hair, pack my wardrobe, have a long hot bath before I head out to a house warming party later. And it felt really good. I now understand what my friends who are mothers mean when they say they miss doing things for themselves. :)
I should have more photos of Oskar as Luke & I will be taking mother and son out this weekend!
Babysitting

Friends have been asking me how I’ve been spending my break so far. Well, I’ve been baby-entertaining for the past 4 days from age 4 months - 13 months and its been rather enjoyable though exhausting.
It results in me having to take a nap.
I’ve also officially learnt how to clean baby’s poo, cheer a babe up from tears to smiles, feed, baby bjorn, pram him and more. Woohoo.
Meet my godson, Oskar (roo)

I’ve not met my godson in the flesh since the day he was born, and Skype does not count, so when sis-in-law said she was going to be back for a month for the little guy to meet the family …I was excited! I’ve spent a day and a half entirely with him so far and oh boy it takes so lots of energy energy just to keep up with his crawling, carrying, standing up, peek-a-booing and more.
I even learnt about diapers & prams in a day and had no idea there was so much logic/reason/pros/cons to it. Wow.
More photos to come, definitely!

An entry from the iPad
March 12th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink
So, I never thought I’d ever be blogging an entry from an iPad although while getting J his last Christmas, I was very very tempted to get one and now that the husband’s bestie has been carrying his around, the husband has been tempted to buy an iPad2, except that every epi centre & i studio store that we have been to has been unable to give us an indicative date of it being released in Singapore. Doesn’t help that the apple online store is also out of stock at the moment…
So, imagine Luke’s joy when he won the top prize - an iPad - during his company lucky draw last night. Lol. It may not have been the specs we would have liked (hey husband keeps reminding me that it’s free), but it made us very happy to know that we’ve been blessed yet again and that we could possible save that grand at least for now :)
Call me slow but I found reading books & magazines on this machine a joy! Not to mention being able to do my Internet surfing on news (my heart goes out to those affected by the tsunami in Japan), entertainment & more on the go - it fits in my handbag rather snugly.
And since I’m finally taking time off to start my personal adventure, although a very delayed start from last year, I reckon this could also mean posting more entries on my journey here!
Hope the weekend is bringing you that much needed joy & rest from a hectic work week.
