Amen!

Hopefully after tonight, I will no longer be tossing about in my bed. That’s because today we settled a major outstanding task off our ‘to-do’ list.

By God’s grace, we managed to confirm a domestic help which will be coming in within 2 weeks’ time! Hooray! And just when I was fretting on who would help me with baby clothes & items washing duties after the confinement lady leaves, this helper couldn’t have come at a better time.

The mil, Bo & I interviewed some 5 of them at the first agency – taking an interest to 2 out of the 5 (although their expectations in terms of job duties & salary were still quite high) and it was absolutely exhausting going through candidate after candidate (especially since I had to ask the same set of questions to each of them – new found respect to all recruiters & headhunters out there btw!). In the end we couldn’t come to a decision and needed more time to consider.

Thanks to the BR’s contact, we checked out agency #2 as well (since we were in the vincinity) which was run by her friend’s mom and upon meeting the first candidate, we knew that she was the closest fit so far. Felt comfortable communicating with her, plus friend’s mom aka. agent was really good in helping us suss out the helper’s capabilities/abilities and knew exactly what we were looking for in a helper without needing us to explain too much. She took the lead, gave us very useful tips and even offered to help us ‘train’ her as we wait for the paper work to process.

No doubt there will be some getting used to from both parties but with God’s continued guidance, I know He’ll see us through.

I’m so elated that the FDW is finally settled because this means we’re one step closer to being ready!

Catching up & more nesting with the BR

I absolutely love my BR. Because she’s the sort of bestie that makes you wish the world had more of, plus she’s going to be the chungkin’s godmama (which I know she’s darn stress about. Haha. Responsibilities, don’t they freak out the best in us at times?) in just a few days/weeks’ time.

We had a smashing good time catching up over some (delish) brunch at Baci Italian Cafe earlier this morning and a follow-up in the evening at my crib when she came over to help complete the finishing touches of ‘chungkin’s corner’. I did give her some ‘tough moments’ with the pasting of the decals initially, which I’d admit was not easy to do especially needing to ensure that everything was stuck as straight as possible; though kudos to BR that she managed to get the hang of it soon enough and did such a fantastic job!

Everything-chungkin looks so put together now despite the fact that we only have a corner to offer to our little bub at the moment, but just looking at it over and over again makes my heart smile so much. I know that baby chungkin is going to enjoy his little corner.

loved!

The BR passed me a belated present on Sunday during the Queenies meet-up. And though I was just expecting a (no pun intended) nice catch-up dinner which we’ve scheduled later this week; I was really touched when she passed me a bag full of goodies!

The cute patterned package contained a huge item for baby chungkin – a too cute growth chart (he’s already being thought of before making his appearance into the world!), a pen for me to jot down his growth progress (again, another item for the little lucky man) & an adorable tote bag for me (yay, finally something for the birthday girl). But what blew me away was the birthday card (see below) – the apt visual on it and of course the content on the inside.

Thank you BR, and I know that you are going to be one fab, hot, god-mama to the chungkin (p/s: no alcohol till 18 years old please).

Muacks!

Salted caramel ❤

We had a Queenies gathering at our favorite zhi char stall today but the highlight of our outing was being introduced to a new ice-cream place: Salted Caramel

Pam pam had been looking for another equivalent to Island Creamery, so when she tried SC few days ago, she knew she had to bring us here.

We tried 4 flavors: Horlicks Tim Tam, Lychee, Salted Caramel & Earl Grey. And boy, were they all tantalizing! The waffles smelt really good too (I know BR was utterly tempted to place an order for one, except that we were too full from our dinner) so we’ve made arrangements to come back for more (next time with waffles) just 1 week before the chungkin hits full term!

tres eventful

I is back and in da mood for a little bit of blogging.

Only because I have pictures to show that I took today. Not much but its something and yes, I know how boring I’ve been with my blog. I’m actually a little less bothered with it these days now that my days are getting more occupied and draining that when I come home, I hardly have any time to even sit & blog because the husband whisks me away so quickly into getting showered & changed and then doing our drama marathon of Mad Men. Its silly, how much of an interest the husband has taken to it, when its completely 110% advertising and something too familiar to me that its scary. Thank goodness I’m no longer working in advertising though the drama is completely relatable and realistic for my entertainment.

So today was rather eventful. I received a surprised and pleasant phone call from my BR at 11.15am, asking if I could do lunch ‘now’. I’ve never been asked out to lunch with her before and seeing how the last time we hooked up alone was some 6 months ago, I had to just abandon my garbage bags & cleaning of the house to hop in for a quick shower and rushed out to meet her for a catch up.

Turns out she liked me us enough to continue our day from lunch. So it was really good. We did old school things like took a bus ride which went in a loop, did a wee bit shopping before heading to East Coast Park for some refreshing Starbucks where we ran into something totally unexpected (I did something way unexpected and would only do so for her), talked a lot, opened up a lot, missed each other a lot before parting ways for our dinner plans.

It was a very very very very nice day out.

In fact, I’ve been having many nice days out recently. Did I mention, I’ve just got closer to a group of non-working friends too and we do silly stuff that passes time really quickly too? :D

Wedding Preps – wedding in progress with J & K

I absolutely love my wedding-in-progress sessions when I get to hang out with 2 of my most awesome & dearest people that would give any hoots about me – my #62 & #63. Even if it meant having only 4 hours of sleep and rushing down from Jurong even if I said ‘forget it, don’t come’ or rushing to a venue in a cab just to be on time to meet your pal even if finances were limited.

We had so much fun today. Site reece at at the Nativity Church followed by brunch at the Saddle Club, time flew by so quickly just being in the company of these 2.
